Performing Arts Group

                                                            Final Update:

The Telstar Middle School Talent Show was a success and the profits were sent to Maine Children's Cancer program inspired by Hailey Steward, a CPS Kindergartener who is fighting Leukemia. Our “Special Surprise” never happened do to the fact there was few volunteers. Our group also accomplished the “grumpy cat” meme collaborative artwork at the Telstar Art Exhibition Opening Event on May 16th.

“Bridging the Generations” was a successful event and many people showed up. We had planned to do a theatre skit with the Senior Players, but we couldn’t find enough interest for it at TMS.  Instead, the Senior Players worked with Eddy Middle School to produce the senior and youth play, called “After the Tone”, that was presented at the event.
Overall, we think our group did a great job connecting elder and youth people with art, theatre, and other talents. However, our group would have been better if we did more collaborations and if we had more participation with both teens and youth.  We hope that the collaboration with teens and elders will continue and expand because the two age groups work together well. Teens and youth have a lot of stereotypes about each other but when they came together they realized they have a lot in common.

Previous goals

We wish to meet with the elders and practice and present a short play. We are also planning on having an entertaining surprise.

Previous Goals

Our group as been planning the TMS Talent Show, scheduled for Thursday, April 11th from 6-8pm.  Many students and teachers will be showcasing their talents at this event, and all proceeds will benefit the Maine Children's Cancer program inspired by Hailey Steward, a CPS Kindergartener who is fighting Leukemia.  We created the talent show poster seen here and shared it around the community and online.   The talent show is this Thursday at 6:00-8:00 PM in honor of Hailey.

Were in the process of organizing our special surprise.

We have also been working on theatrical skit for May 2nd, "Lightning Larry", with some elders as well.
